FOB Del Rio Welcomes

The Wall That Heals

The Wall That Heals is a 375 ft. replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. that is sanctioned by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF). Thursday, April 16 to Sunday, April 19. Open 24 hrs. Closes Sunday at 2pm. This is a free event open to the public.

Tuesday, 14 April 2026 - Welcome The Wall that Heals

TBD: Help FOB Del Rio welcome The Wall That Heals as it is escorted by motorcade through the community of Del Rio. Follow our website for upcoming information.

TBD: Photo Opportunities and Music

The community will be able to get the first look at The Wall That Heals, take photos and honor veterans


Wednesday, 15 April 2026- The Wall Set Up

8:30a: 30 to 40 Volunteers will assist in setting up the full Wall That Heals Display.

6:00p: Volunteer Training

VVMF will take volunteers through a personal tour and training on how to assist visitors.


Thursday, April 16 2026 - Welcome Home Ceremony

9:00a: Welcome Home Ceremony with Special guest speaker and local veteran: Bobby Barrerra

Sunset: Taps Ceremony

The Taps will be played at sunset each night. Visitors are welcome to take pictures.


Friday, April 17 2026 - Viewings and Tours

VVMF will be available to provide scheduled tours to visitors. Volunteers will assist visitors at The Wall & mobile Education Center

Sunset: Light the Night and Taps Ceremony

The lights for The Wall That Heals will be displayed with a candlelight and tap ceremony

The Taps will be played at sunset each night. Visitors are welcome to take pictures.


Saturday, April 18 2026- Final Taps

TBD: A final role call will be conducted acknowledging the Del Rio and surrounding communities Vietnam KIAs.

Sunset: Final Taps

At sunset the final taps for The Wall That Heals will be played.


Sunday, April 19 2026 -Closing Ceremony

2:00p: The viewing of The Wall That Heals will officially conclude and the Volunteers will begin to disassemble The Wall That Heals.

Volunteer Opportunities

We have 200+ volunteer shifts to fill. Most shifts are 4 hours Snacks & water provided

Duties include:

Welcoming visitors at the welcome tent, setup, takedown, help with finding names, parking needs, assist visitors with mobility needs, assist visitors at The Wall’s mobile Education Center.
